THE BUSINESS OF LIFE INSURANCE
What should life insurance agency management software help you do?
Start with the work that gets lost between systems. A contact list helps you remember a person; an agency workflow also needs to explain what happened to the application, who owns the next step, and how a carrier statement relates to a recorded sale.
Map one case from lead to statement
Write down the steps your agency actually uses: incoming lead, assigned follow-up, application, policy status, statement review and exceptions. Identify where someone copies information into another spreadsheet. That handoff is a better starting point for a software evaluation than the number of features on a pricing page.
Separate contact activity from policy and commission activity
A call completed is not a policy funded, and a submitted application is not a commission received. Ask whether you can keep those facts distinct. Record the carrier and policy reference, the current status, the responsible person and the next action. Then check how statement entries can be reviewed against those records.
Test the handoffs with a fictional case
Use a synthetic client with no real personal information. Have one person enter a lead, another update the next action, and the responsible producer record the sale. Review a supported sample statement separately. Note where you need help, whether statuses are understandable, and whether a staff member can see only the work appropriate to their role. Do not treat a sales demonstration as proof that every carrier format is supported.
Choose the account around the people doing the work
An independent producer and an agency with appointment setters have different needs. List who sells, who follows up, who reviews statements and who handles staff operations. Check seat limits, permissions, plan eligibility and setup requirements before comparing prices. Ask which tools remain available after a trial or preview ends.
Where LIT-AMS fits
LIT-AMS connects sales, statement review, commission visibility and chargeback tracking in its core Individual Lite workspace. Personal lead tools and the Insurance Estimator are part of the time-limited preview and paid-plan offering described on the current product and pricing pages. Team and agency needs should be evaluated against their own plan scope. The value to test is the connected workflow, including staff operations where available.
Your evaluation checklist
Before choosing, document five answers: Can I follow one case without retyping it everywhere? Can I distinguish application status from statement activity? Can I review exceptions instead of assuming a match is correct? Are responsibilities and access clear? Do I understand the ongoing price and what happens after the preview? Keep the answers alongside your actual workflow, and use them in a walkthrough.
